1 - Discovery Phone Call
A 15-minute call to gather a comprehensive history of your animal. During this call, we will:
  • Identify stressors and current conditions.

  • Discuss your goals for care.

  • Book an initial appointment or refer to another practitioner if needed.

  • Address other important details (e.g., parking, barn policies, etc.).

After booking, you’ll receive paperwork through the Jane booking system:

  1. Create a Profile: Set up your profile and complete the initial form.

  2. Fill Out Animal Forms: Submit a form for each animal, including yourself if you’re receiving care. Forms are under the Intake Forms section.

  3. Share Records: Email any relevant radiographs or notes from other care providers to DrSavannahMahoney@flowchiro.ca, and they’ll be added to your profile.

2 - Initial Appointment

Appointment lengths vary depending on the individual animal. For more details on timing, please see the FAQ section. During this appointment, we’ll discuss anything not covered during the discovery call (there’s always something!), perform a gait analysis, complete a detailed neuromusculoskeletal exam, and provide chiropractic adjustments as needed.

Preparing Your Animal:

  • Horses/Large Animals: Have them caught and ready, with a clean coat and hooves. Remove blankets and hoof coverings. Use a safe, level area (e.g., aisle or arena) and have a halter and lead rope ready.

  • Dogs/Small Animals: Use a soft collar, bring a muzzle (if needed), and pack their favourite treats.

  • Medication Reminder: Avoid giving medication before the appointment unless discussed in advance.

We accept E-transfer, cash, and credit card, with payment expected at the time of service.

3 - Healing Between Appointments

The real magic happens between adjustments. Chiropractic care restores motion to subluxated areas in the spine, which can interfere with the nervous system’s ability to function at its best. With proper spinal alignment, true healing can begin.

After the first adjustment, your animal may experience mild soreness. Here’s how you can support their recovery:

  • Rest: Provide 24–48 hours of rest post-appointment.

  • Observe: Monitor any changes in mood, behaviour, movement, or organ function as their nervous system adjusts.

  • Care Tips: Follow the home exercises or advice provided to promote healing and overall well-being.

Routine Appointments

We gain valuable insights from how an animal responds to their first adjustment. While many show positive changes after one visit, it may take 2–3 adjustments to see noticeable improvements. Routine appointments help us track progress and refine the care plan to meet your goals.
